HUMBOLDT RESERVE - MAGUANA BEACH
35 Km from Baracoa, a wild and magnificent nature is waiting for you in the Humboldt Nature Reserve, which was declared Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2001. The 7 Km walking trail starts from the river Santa Maria and climbs up Mount Iberia (740 m high).
You will have the chance to observe endangered flora and fauna, such as: manatees (marine mammal),
hummingbirds (the smallest bird in the world),
polimitas snails with multicolored shells, transparent Greta Cubana butterflies, small orchids, ferns, and unique palms.
You will also have an unforguettable experience soaking in natural pools of crystal clear water, under a 25 m high waterfall.
Driving back we we´ll stop in Maguana, a popular white beach protected by coral reef, where you can enjoy a break at a variety of restaurants and bars.
YUNQUE MOUNTAIN - DUABA RIVER
To enjoy the most wonderful view of the city, we will take a pleasurable 10 km walk from the Duaba River to the top of the Yunque Mountain (575 m high), the symbol of Baracoa.
We will them cross through a forest, which will surround you with precious woods and tropical fruit tree ( Mango, Custard, Mamey, Guayaba). Along this path you can discover Baracoa´s rural culture by tasting fruits, coconut sweets, fried bananas, and coffees in local farmers´s house.
On the way down, we will stop a refreshing swim in the natural pools or waterfalls of the Duaba River.
CANYON YUMURI - MANGLITO BEACH
From Baracoa, we will travel 30 km by car along beautiful beachess to the small Yumuri harbor.
The first facinating stop is at a cocoa plantation, where you can see how 100% pure chocolate is produced, and taste the native chocolate drink Chorote.
Next, we will visit the House of Kiriba and Nengon to see a traditional farmers´dance. Them, we will cross the Yumuri River by boat, above the Yumuri Cayon (180 m high). We will stop on lovely islets with nice panoramic trail ( 2 - 4 km), to enjoy the silence of the canyon, or to take a unique bat in the warm waters of the river.
Driving back, we will stop at Manglito beach where you can swin out to the reef, or relax with a drink at the beach restaurant.
